چکیده

We study the neighborhood polynomial and complexity of its computation for chordal graphs. The a graph is generating function subsets vertices that have common neighbor. introduce parameter graphs called anchor width an algorithm to compute which runs in time if polynomially bounded. maximal number different sub-cliques clique appear as neighborhood. Furthermore we some subclasses such comparability with bounded leafage. leafage minimum leaves host tree subtree representation. show at most $n^{\ell}$ where $\ell$ denotes This shows computing possible while it NP-hard general

Chordal graphs and the characteristic polynomial

A characteristic polynomial was recently de!ned for greedoids, generalizing the notion for matroids. When chordal graphs are viewed as antimatroids by shelling of simplicial vertices, the greedoid characteristic polynomial gives additional information about those graphs. In particular, the characteristic polynomial for a chordal graph is an alternating clique generating function and is expressi...

Polynomial-Time Algorithm for the Leafage of Chordal Graphs

Every chordal graph G can be represented as the intersection graph of a collection of subtrees of a host tree, the so-called tree model of G. The leafage l(G) of a connected chordal graph G is the minimum number of leaves of the host tree of a tree model of G. This concept was first defined by I.-J. Lin, T.A. McKee, and D.B. West in [9]. In this contribution, we present the first polynomial tim...

Maximal outerplanar graphs as chordal graphs, path-neighborhood graphs, and triangle graphs

Maximal outerplanar graphs are characterized using three different classes of graphs. A path-neighborhood graph is a connected graph in which every neighborhood induces a path. The triangle graph T (G) has the triangles of the graph G as its vertices, two of these being adjacent whenever as triangles in G they share an edge. A graph is edge-triangular if every edge is in at least one triangle. ...

k-Neighborhood-Covering and -Independence Problems for Chordal Graphs

Suppose G = (V,E) is a simple graph and k is a fixed positive integer. A vertex z k-neighborhood-covers an edge (x, y) if d(z, x) ≤ k and d(z, y) ≤ k. A k-neighborhoodcovering set is a set C of vertices such that every edge in E is k-neighborhood-covered by some vertex in C. A k-neighborhood-independent set is a set of edges in which no two distinct edges can be k-neighborhood-covered by the sa...

The Hyper-Wiener Polynomial of Graphs

The distance $d(u,v)$ between two vertices $u$ and $v$ of a graph $G$ is equal to the length of a shortest path that connects $u$ and $v$. Define $WW(G,x) = 1/2sum_{{ a,b } subseteq V(G)}x^{d(a,b) + d^2(a,b)}$, where $d(G)$ is the greatest distance between any two vertices. In this paper the hyper-Wiener polynomials of the Cartesian product, composition, join and disjunction of graphs are compu...
